Our Story
A Labour of Love in the Heart of the Shropshire Hills
The Beeches is proudly owned and personally run by Michelle and Neil, a couple who followed their dream of creating a peaceful haven in one of the UK’s most beautiful natural landscapes.
Why Rita and Mary?
Rita’s Retreat and Mary’s Croft are named in honour of the incredible women who shaped and supported our lives — Rita, Neil’s mother, and Mary, Michelle’s mom. Their unwavering love and care have guided us, and it felt only right to dedicate these special places to them. Their legacy lives on here, in every warm welcome and every thoughtful detail.
A Message from Michelle
“Neil and I are in our 50s and decided to begin a new chapter in the stunning Shropshire hills. The moment we arrived six years ago, we felt a deep sense of peace — and we knew we wanted to share that feeling with others.
We take true joy in making others happy. Watching guests arrive and instantly relax is incredibly rewarding, and we believe this was the right path for us.
Here, you’re surrounded by nature’s finest: deer grazing in the fields, red kites soaring overhead, the gentle call of owls, and the rhythmic tapping of woodpeckers. It’s a treat for the senses, and we hope your soul feels as restored as ours has.”
